Get expert support directly from WPML’s developers.
Our supporters are here to help you get the most out of WPML by answering questions, resolving issues, and pointing you in the right direction.
Some typical support topics:
- General WPML functionality and translation workflows
- Making third-party themes and plugins multilingual
- Finding suitable workarounds for translating site elements
- Troubleshooting issues and finding viable solutions
All technical support is provided via our forum, where WPML’s developers answer every question.
We will always do our best to resolve issues and provide comprehensive assistance. However, it is important to note that our scope is limited and we will not be able to do your work for you. Here is some more information about some of the things we don’t fully cover and why:
What’s NOT INCLUDED with WPML’s Support
We cannot support or produce custom code solutions for you. When you need custom coding which extends WPML functionality, we recommend using our WPML certified contractors system.
Fixing Compatibility Issues With Your Server
Folks run WordPress on many different server types. We try very hard to make sure that WPML is compatible with any environment. However, some compatibility problems remain.
We can help you trace issues and find solutions, but we can’t always fix everything, at least not immediately.
Always check that your hosting provider is able to provide a stable environment for WordPress. We have a list of recommended Hosting Partners that are experienced in providing solutions for WordPress users.
Fixing Compatibility With Other Plugins and Themes
Compatibility relies on an ongoing partnership between WPML and other third-party plugins and themes. Whether a plugin is compatible often depends on if its author has applied the necessary code to their products.
We provide guidance to plugin and theme developers through our Go Global program. However, we cannot directly fix issues inside third-party theme and plugin code.
What WPML Support CAN Help You With
1. We provide temporary workarounds when possible.
2. We contact theme and plugin authors to make permanent fixes on their side.
If we are unable to reach third-party developers, we may ask you to encourage them in pushing permanent fixes forward.
Use Compatible Themes and Plugins to Avoid Issues
The best way to avoid compatibility issues is to choose a plugin or theme that was already tested and confirmed to work well with WPML. We have a complete list of compatible plugins and themes for you to choose from.
Even if a theme or plugin is listed as compatible, please note that bugs may still crop up occasionally. These issues are quicker to solve when theme and plugin authors work closely with WPML.
Fixing Your Custom (Non-Commercial) Themes
We’ll answer any question and help you get it right, but we can’t take your entire theme and debug it.
Adding Features to WPML
Many great features in WPML came from user suggestions. If you have an idea for a cool new feature, suggest it and we’ll discuss it with you. However, we can’t promise anything.
Fixing Bugs in WPML
This one may sound strange, but it’s true. If you find a bug in WPML, we take it very seriously. We’ll add it to the bug-fix queue and work on it. However, we can’t fix everything right that minute. So, if you hit a bug that’s keeping you from doing something, we can’t promise that we’ll fix it right away.
We’ll work with you to find a sensible temporary solution and will let you know as soon as it’s fixed, but we can’t guarantee any schedule.
Need Technical Help Beyond Our Support?
As mentioned, some things don’t fall under our standard support, but they still need doing. We’re here to help with that too. You can get excellent work from WPML Contractors. They are great developers who speak different languages (all speak English, too) and are a pleasure to work with.
