How does the free trial work?
Sign up for Application Hosting or Database Hosting and you’ll automatically join our free trial. The free trial is limited to $20 in pod resources and is applicable only to your first month of hosting.
Will my credit card be billed when I set up an account?
No, with Application Hosting or Database Hosting, you won’t be charged until the end of your first billing cycle, and not until after your free trial.
(Note: with Managed WordPress Hosting, you’ll be charged at the beginning of your monthly billing cycle.)
Can I scale up from Hobby Tier when I need to?
Yes. You can scale your app vertically (more resources on your pod) or horizontally (more pods) at any time. This will allow you handle requests as needed.

How are resources calculated?
You pay only for the resources you used. We bill monthly at the end of your billing cycle or when your use of the services reaches a preset billing threshold, whichever occurs first.
Can I set up a custom domain name?
No, not with the Hobby Tier. You’ll have a domain that looks like this:your-app-name.kinsta.app
For custom domains select a pricing plan from Standard, CPU Optimized, or Memory Optimized options.
Are there any limitations with the Hobby Tier that other tiers do not have?
The Hobby Tier does not offer custom domain names. It does offer the rest of Kinsta’s live-chat support, security, and performance features that some other web hosts limit on lower tiers.
